Welcome to Y2S, please look at our class page to discover what we have been learning about at school.
We used an app called Book Creator to make our own pirate book.
P2S measured the length of different sea creatures. We found out a manta ray can be as wide as 7m, that was the same length as 6 of the boys in our class! We also measured a blue whale which can grow up to 30m! It was longer than everyone in our class! WOW
We have been reading the Rainbow Fish as a class and learning how to retell it. We practised retelling the story using actions to help us remember. We will be writing our own story about the Rainbow Fish. Watch the clip below to hear the Rainbow Fish story.
The children worked with a partner to create their own story using book creator. They planned their story and then worked together to create their book. Have a look at some of the examples below.
The children had to follow the direction cards to find out what gingerbread character they would land on. They were able to check their answer by scanning the QR code on the back of the directions card.
The children had to select their favourite chocolate bar and use the correct money to buy it from the shop. They were able to use the numicon to add the different amounts together. Well done!
We worked in groups to design our own castles. What do you think?
Welcome back to term 2! Although this term will be short it is going to be action packed! We will be learning about Castles and Dragons, so we will be exploring castles, thinking about how they were defended. We will be writing our own creative story about castles and making our own catapults. This term we are also practising for our school performance - There's a Sunflower in my Supper!
On Friday Baby Bear sent us a letter asking us to help him solve a problem. Someone had broke into his house, ate his porridge and broke his chair. We had to work together in a group to reply to Baby Bear. We all enjoyed working as a group as it meant we were able to talk together to discuss what to write and we also had lots of help when we had to spell tricky words. Can you read our letters below!
We have started our new topic "The Jolly Postman". We will be learning about the journey of a letter and meeting all the characters from the book...there are a few familiar faces. I have posted a video of the story below.
On Monday 17th October our class went for a walk around our local environment to survey the traffic. We saw lots of cars, lorries, van and people travelling on foot. Stay tuned to find out about our results.
