the countries from which the Vikings came from had a climate which is cooler than ours. They did not have electricity or central heating, relying only on open fires and their clothing to keep them warm. We tested different fabrics to see which fabric kept our bottle of hot water, hotter for longer.
The Vikings dyed woollen and linen fabrics and yarns using natural materials, although their colour range was limited. We used a variety of fruit, vegetables and spices to dye fabric. Have a look at our results below.
