'Learning together for a better tomorrow'

Cassia's Cinderella report!

Y6 & Y7 put on a play called ’Cinderella and Rockerfella’.   First, we auditioned for our part and then we started rehearsing in October or November.  There was a cast of about 60 pupils, with two Cinderellas, two Rockys and two Buttons.  We started  with a number of pupils  practicing our lines with Miss Loudan and everyone else with Mrs McGeehan doing art.
The cast practiced every Tuesday from 3pm to 4pm, but this was extended to 3pm to 4:30pm, so we could have more time to rehearse our parts.  Next, we started to learn the songs on  a Friday afternoon from 3pm to 4pm.  This started off with just some pupils, but then in the last month or so everyone came to the Friday practices.
In addition, we required a few animals for Cinderella, so Miss Loudan asked some Y5 if they wanted to be part of the play and to our delight, a number of them said, “Yes”.   We also needed help with the songs, so we asked if the school choir (who weren’t already in the play) wanted to take part, we were over the moon when they said, “Yes.”
Finally,  the amateur dramatics began.  We put on the show on Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th May 2013 for our  parents.  On  Wednesday morning we performed  our first show for the Nursery, P1, P2 and P3 and  to the remainder of the school (P4, P5, P6 and P7) on  Friday 10th May.  It was a great success and everyone watching have enjoyed it.
Thank you Miss Loudan, Mrs McGeehan and Mrs Anderson for directing the play, Miss Irwin, Mr Hampton, Mr Guy for doing the sound and lights and Mrs Murray for the huge cake she ordered for us! It was yummy.
I have really enjoyed taking part in the play and I hope we will stage another one next year.
